About OTKATY
We spend enormous amounts of time at our desks. Working remotely, editing videos, writing code, managing online businesses, gaming, studying or creating content often means sitting for long periods every day. However, many desk chairs and workstations were not designed for such long hours. Long periods of sitting can result in discomfort and soreness in the neck, back, hips and legs, while many existing chair designs lack the support required for the modern worker.
Traditional seating products were often functional only for office tasks and lacked attention toward comfort, aesthetics and support for the new non-traditional forms of work and leisure. This realization sparked the idea behind OTKATY.
Designing Furniture for the Modern Workspace
Work furniture should not be considered a superficial item. It should be an indispensable working tool that supports and facilitates the work we do, enabling efficiency, creativity and performance. Good work furniture should help people maintain a healthy working position, feel comfortable and prevent fatigue caused by long hours spent reading, working and communicating on digital screens.
Our intention from the outset has been to create furniture for the modern workplace. We began investigating ergonomic design, learning about posture and how people really use their desks throughout the day.
Built Around Ergonomics
Design choices have real consequences. For desks this means considerations for support, ventilation and height adjustability. Ergonomic seating systems and height adjustable surfaces contribute to a working environment where less strain is imposed on the user.
This research forms the basis for two of the most important components in a modern setup: ergonomic office chairs and electric standing desks. Ergonomic chairs are designed for long periods of sitting in order to support posture, comfort and wellbeing. Electric standing desks allow users to move throughout the day between sitting and standing, minimizing fatigue caused by static postures.
